Mine is #2: the Buddhists refer to this as "beginners' mind," and there's nothing like a child's "why can't...?" to cut to the heart of a question. True story: while Dr. Land got the credit for inventing instant photography (remember when we didn't have smartphones??), it was his daughter's question on her 7th birthday -- Daddy, why can't we have the photos now? -- that got him thinking...
